In the morning I was ok... Had so much to do today that couldn't really think about food! Which is good! Not good... Great! Today, I also realized that I need to drink more cups of tea, and lots of water... it keeps your stomach under the false pretense of fullness!
So, one cup of tea later I was on my way to the gym. After my routine: a banana. Then run errands, and also fight bureaucracy around town! Fucking Spanish bureaucrats! Although, and thanks to them, my mind was busy somewhere else... besides the fridge!
Lesson number 1: Empty your fridge of all possible distractions from your planned food schedule!
The hungry worm that lives inside my stomach, started crawling after I settled at home, right around noon! I didn't feel like cutting little pieces of veggies to make myself a salad! I thought “that” could wait for another couple of hours, and give me time to finish watching the movie I have to return at 5 pm... Thus, I indulged myself into a whole wheat toast with a slice of 0% fat cheese... It tasted like cardboard... But I ate it thinking it was a delicious baguette, topped with a generous wedge of “Manchego”! Swallowed the whole thing with another cup of tea.
Lesson number 2: Take your time. Eat slowly, even if you are starving to death!
The only thing that seems to be getting plenty around here are mosquitoes! Just killed one filled with blood from my back, arms, and legs! Fat bastard!
Lesson number 3: Use your imagination! Bring to your mind the flavors of the past, while tasting the horrors of your present!
The rest of the afternoon went really fast! I had to run more errands, and keep the bureaucrats at bay! Then, an unexpected visit... my landlord! I hadn't heard from him since my phone was stolen last January, along with my bag and money! Therefore, all my contacts! Couldn't call him myself... but I had, for a long time, been planning to pay him a visit, and bring to him the bottle of Rum I bought him on my last trip to the Caribbean. Now I'm glad I didn't, cause he moved his office to Barcelona, and would have wasted my time!
Lesson number 4: Never let too much time pass between cups of tea, water, or a snack... you'll end up eating the first thing that crosses your path!
Now I was late to return the movie! I had to run out the door to get to the video store before closing time, or else! On my way back... Ah! On my way back... I had to stop at my friend's, on the bakery! to get my internet connection. My friend and I share the internet connection to cut on expenses. But she was busy tending to customers, and I had to wait inside the bakery!!!!!! A croissant called my name: “Nina, Nina, Nina” And I failed miserably! Now I hate myself for it. But what is done, can't be undone. I'd better think of it as a little pebble in my shoe, and not give it too much thought. Otherwise, I will go nuts with self-flagellation!
Lesson number 5: It is not a crime, nor a sin, to indulge yourself once in a blue moon!
I am now ready to sip my last cup of tea before saying goodnight and good luck! Tomorrow it will be a whole new day, and just like in AA... I will deal with it “one day at a time”.
